Sundial1648 viewsMy mum gave me a brass sundial plate for christmas so I had to make a stand for it. Again I've gone for a favourite motif... fern leaves and fronds

Hope springs eternal...1646 viewsSmall statue using flowing theme. When I was carving this the expression ' like getting blood from a stone' kept coming to mind, but I thought that was a bit yucky so I've named it something more hopeful and positive.
Stands 350mm tall

spikey sea-shell1636 viewsI actually dug a spikey shell out of our garden and have no idea how it got here so far from the sea. This is what gave me the idea for this statue which is slightly modified to allow for strength. I really like the contrast between the soft curves and the viscious looking spikes.

Dark side of the Moon1632 viewsOK. I admit it. Pink Floyd did come to mind several times when I was making this. Another of my 'weird phase' as my husband puts it... But I had fun making it.
Four pieces pinned together standing about 1.5metres tall.

The Answer1630 viewsI was thinking about grass blowing around in the wind when I was carving this one and then half way through I under went a slight change of mind... deciding that it would be too busy with lots of swaying lines all over it. So I went for a smooth contrast. So this one I feel is very tactile. You can run you fingers along the wavy lines and then enjoy the cool smoothness of the central core.
Stand 600mm high plus 100mm base (SOLD)

Stairway to heaven1614 viewsI see the little grooves in this one as steps... but other people have told me that it reminds them of teeth??? (Can't see it myself)
Anyway, small statue - 360mm tall

Wavy fern leaf1614 viewsAs a teenager I used to be taken on bush walks by my parents – both of whom were very knowledgeable about plants and trees. They used to argue amongst themselves about specific botanic names and tell me the most amazing things about the plants we passed by. “Wavy fern†(not its biological name – sorry Mum and Dad) is not a small fern but a large glossy one – which I love the undulating shapes.
